Washington: Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas on Tuesday began an official three-day visit to the US capital of Washington.
Abbas is scheduled to meet with US President Donald Trump on Wednesday.
The Palestinian President will also meet with US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson, National Security Adviser Lt. Gen. Herbert Raymond McMaster and senior US officials.
According to analysts and observers, this visit is particularly important in light of the open-ended hunger strike of Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails, which began 16 days ago, and the Israeli continues settlement policies.
Regarding the most important topics to be discussed during the visit, observers said that the Palestinian side will affirm its commitment to the peace process and the option of the two-state solution on the 1967 borders based on the Arab initiative and all relevant resolutions, in addition to the serious situations facing Jerusalem under the fierce settlement attack.
