MES Indian School has won the overall championship in the closely fought interschool competitions organised by the Anti Smoking Society and the Supreme Council of Health in connection with the World No Tobacco Day celebrations of World Health Organisation.
Competitions were held in painting for various categories of students.
Winners were honoured at a function held at Ideal Indian School auditorium on Sunday. Dr Sheikh Muhammed Al Thani, Director of public health at the supreme council of health attended the function as the chief guest. Anil Srinivasan, general manager of Jet Airways Qatar attended the function as a guest of honour.
Addressing a packed crowd consisting of students, teachers and parents Dr Muhammed Al Thani appreciated the activities of Anti smoking Society and offered all support. He observed that smoking endangers not only its users but also the public.
Dr M P Hassan Kunhi, chairman of the society, presided over the function. Syed Shaoukathali, executive committee member spoke on the occasion. Dr Abdul Rasheed, president of the society and Abdul Fathah Nilambur, coordinator also attended the function .
The prize winning entries of painting competitions were on display for public view. Amanulla Vadakkangara, the chief coordinator of the society conducted the event. The campaign was sponsored by Doha Bank and Jet Airways.
