KABUL: Afghan security forces shot dead a would-be suicide bomber in central Kabul yesterday outside an intelligence agency office and close to the EU mission, officials said. The attacker in military uniform was killed as he approached the National Directorate of Security office in the morning. The incident took place in one of the most high-security areas, close to the interior ministry and Chicken Street, a popular shopping area for foreigners until the insurgency worsened several years ago.
Three killed in Baluchistan
Islamabad: Three labourers were killed and four injured after militants opened fire on them as they slept by the road in Baluchistan, Geo News said yesterday. The gunmen on motorbikes attacked the daily-wagers in Khan Kot area of Naseerabad and fled. The sources added that the district administration was taking all the necessary remedial measures and police were inspecting the spot to verify the exact nature of the killings.
Terror suspects held in Karachi
Islamabad: Five members of banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan were arrested in raids in Orangi town area of Karachi, Senior Superintendent of Police west zone, Asif Eijaz Shaikh, said yesterday. He said that two Kalashnikovs, one MP-5 riffle, two TT pistols, one 9-MM pistol, three block and six ball bombs, 3kg of explosive material, nut bolts, walkie-talkie sets, a stolen car and a motorbike were impounded.
