Damascus: An explosion was heard on Thursday at a cafe in central Damascus, near the Palace of Justice, a Syrian security source told AFP, after state TV reported a blast in the capital.

The explosion killed four people and wounded 11, the Syrian health ministry said, with the cause of the blast still unclear.

The head of emergency services in the health ministry, Ahmed al-Bakour, gave the toll in statements carried by the state news agency SANA, while an AFP correspondent saw an ambulance transporting victims after the explosion.
