Gang of five held for forging Qatari currencies

DOHA: The law-enforcement agencies have busted a five-member gang found forging Qatari currencies.

Forged currencies worth QR20,000 were seized from one of the culprits, along with the equipment used to print the notes, said a statement on the website of the Interior Ministry.

Acting on a tip-off from an unidentified source, the Criminal Investigation Department at the ministry raided the house where the currencies were being printed. 

All members of the group were Arabs. One suspect was taken into custody after recovery of forged QR100 and QR500 notes with a total value of QR20,000 from him. They counterfeits were ready for circulation. The equipment used to forge the notes were also seized from the house, said the ministry.
