Workers loading relief materials on a Qatar Airways plane that flew yesterday to Pakistan to be delivered to victims of earthquake in Balochistan province.
Doha: Upon the directives of the Emir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the first flight carrying Qatari relief materials for victims of the devastating earthquake that hit Balochistan province in Pakistan last week, left Doha yesterday.
The flight with a Lekhwiya search and rescue team, carried about 40 tonnes of foodstuff and medicines. The second flight leaves for Pakistan today.
Pakistan has declared a state of emergency in the southwestern Awaran district in Balochistan that was struck by a powerful 7.7 magnitude earthquake that killed 476 people, injured 428 and flattened thousands of homes in remote villages.
