Islamabad: At least 476 people were killed and 428 injured up to Monday in a series of earthquakes, measuring over seven degree at the Richter Scale, that hit southwest Balochistan province last week, military sources said. The sources said that the earthquakes damaged an area of about 182km in Balochistan. The army set up two field hospitals in the affected areas with 2,000 troops involved in rescue operations, the sources added. Relief convoys were attacked by unidentified gunmen both in air and on the ground and such attacks affected the pace of the relief work,” Director General Inter Services Public Relations Major General Asim Salim Bajwa said.
Army official, family killed
Islamabad: Four persons of the same family were found murdered in Rawalpindi city, near the capital Islamabad, yesterday, Geo News reported. Police said that four bodies were recovered from one house in Al Shifa Colony, in Rawalpindi which were identified as Brigadier (retired) Sikandar Malik, his wife and two daughters. Police have cordoned off the area, while the bodies have been shifted to the hospital. Further investigation was in progress.
