Aster Medical Centre marks World Heart Day
Aster Medical Centre, a division of DM Healthcare, commemorated the World Heart Day by conducting ‘Healthy Heart’ awareness drives at Ideal Indian School and Qatar UAE Exchange.
As part of the celebrations, Dr Raveendran P, Cardiologist at Aster Medical Centre, Hilal clinic, launched his book on hypertension — Hypertension. The book launch, held at the Holiday Villa Hotel was followed by an interactive session with the audience.
About 100 students participated in the awareness drive held at the Ideal Indian School premises.
The activity at Qatar UAE Exchange was a presentation and open house discussion between Dr Raveendran and the employees.
Commenting on raising heart related concerns in this region, Dr Raveendran said: “Main cause of increase in number of hypertension cases and heart conditions is the lifestyle of the people. Fat Intake, fried foods, alcohol intake should be reduced to prevent these ailments. Smoking habits should be cut off as most of the heart related issues are caused by cigarettes and tobacco products.”
Commenting on occasion of World Heart Day, Dr Sameer Moopan, CEO, DM Healthcare, Qatar, said: “Heart diseases are the number one cause of death in the world right now. Therefore, this year our aim is to not only educate the adults but also the teenagers about cardiovascular diseases. Unless proper preventive measures are taken, the current generation will be in a grave risk in the coming years.”The Peninsula
