Nepalese soldiers fire blanks to mark “Fulpati”, the seventh day of the Hindu festival of Navaratri, in Tundhikhel, Kathmandu yesterday. Navaratri, which translates to “nine nights” in Sanskrit, involves worshipping different deities over nine nights and 10 days. The festival celebrates the triumph of good over evil.
