Wounded Spanish speleologist Cecilio Lopez (on the stretcher) upon his arrival in Lima after being rescued from the Intimachay cave, in Northeast Peru. Lopez had been trapped for 12 days some 2,000 metres deep inside a cave, at a depth of 400m. 107 people — 58 from Spain, 43 from Peru (including Air Force members, high mountain police and civil staff) four Mexicans, an Italian and a Frenchman — took part in the rescue.
