Police officers provide security yesterday after a gunman reportedly opened fire at a security checkpoint in Los Angeles International Airport
LOS ANGELES: A gunman opened fire with an assault rifle at Los Angeles’ international airport yesterday, killing a security agent and wounding seven people, officials said.
Panicked travellers scrambled to escape after the lone suspect, described by witnesses as a young white male, pulled out the gun and began shooting, walking through a security checkpoint before being stopped in an exchange of fire with police.
The Los Angeles Times newspaper said the shooter was believed to be a Transportation Security Administration employee at the airport.
