BSF recovers 22kg heroin in Punjab, shoots smuggler dead

Amritsar: Border Security Force (BSF) troopers yesterday shot dead one smuggler, arrested three more and recovered 22kg of heroin along the India-Pakistan border in Punjab’s Gurdaspur district, officials said.
BSF officials said that the seizure was made in the border out-post of Boharwadala area of Gurdaspur sector.
A BSF spokesman said all the three arrested smugglers are Indian nationals. One pistol, ammunition, and Pakistani SIM cards were recovered from them.
The heroin seized is valued at Rs11m in the international markets, the official said.
“On intervening night of 01/02 November, BSF troopers deployed near Border Out Post Boharwadala spotted suspicious movement of smugglers on own (Indian) side of border security fence.
