KARACHI: With an acute shortage of important medicines in the market, pharmacies are charging double the price for the drugs that are said to be in short supply. Retailers said that consumers only faced problems when there is sudden spike in demand. However, retailers do not face a problem when they place orders for medicines directly from the distributors, they added.
If a retailer wants to buy drugs from the wholesale market then sometimes they get less than the required quantity.
Many distributors give limited quantity of medicines to the wholesalers which sometimes become one of the main reasons of shortage.
For example, Xanax is not available in most of the stores and some stores are charging more than double its actual price. IANS
