DOHA: The first Qatar Charity humanitarian forum on Palestine which concluded here on Friday recommended to set up international institutions in Palestine to promote education, culture and arts.
The three-day forum raised $100m in donations to support the Palestinian people.
The forum recommended that specialised international institutions be set up in Gaza, West Bank and Al Shatat. It also recommended to set up a fund for education, academy for humanitarian work and an association for empowerment of women and children. An appeal was made to the international humanitarian and civil organisations to shoulder their responsibility and do more to reduce the suffering of Palestinians. The Peninsula
At the closing ceremony, donors pledged $100m for relief and rebuilding projects in Palestine.
Islamic Development Bank pledged $30m, Qatar Charity $20m and Mercy Global-Kuwait $10m. Other donors were Qatari, GCC and Arab humanitarian organisations and individuals.
More than 400 delegates representing over 70 local, regional and international organisations from some 30 countries took part in the forum.
