DOHA: Nearly 100 teachers from Qatar will augment their professional development at a workshop hosted by Teach For Qatar (TFQ) and Teach For All ahead of the World Innovation Summit for Education 2014 (WISE).
In keeping with the theme of WISE 2014, ‘Imagine-Create-Learn: Creativity at the Heart of Education’, the day-long workshop will consist of five interactive sessions that will engage teachers in new approaches to teaching and learning.
Aimed at helping educators think of effective ways to apply innovative practices in their own classrooms, the sessions will include an exploration of the use of technology in the classroom, teacher development through collaboration, activity-based learning, innovative strategies to build student literacy, and increasing student motivation.
“As Teach For Qatar continues to seek young academic achievers, and talented professionals to become transformational leaders in both the classroom and society, it is also important that we harness the expertise of teachers locally and internationally to create a change in the educational landscape,” said Mohamed Fakhroo, Chief Executive Officer of Teach For Qatar.
“This initiative therefore aims to facilitate a knowledge sharing platform between TFQ Program Managers and Fellows, Teach For All network alumni, and 96 teachers in Qatar. Furthermore, it is through such creative exchange that we aim to tackle the challenges facing Qatar’s students.”
Teach For Qatar introduces exceptionally talented young leaders into the Independent school system in Qatar by providing graduates and young professionals, both nationals or residents who wish to give back to Qatar, the opportunity to inspire students through a two-year teaching placement in one of its partner Independent schools in Doha. Applications for the Teach For Qatar 2015-2017 Fellowship open today.
