The AMU Alumni Association of Qatar Chapter (AMUAAQ) celebrated the 200th birth anniversary of the university’s founder “Sir Syed Ahmad Khan” on October 26 at Sheraton Grand Doha Resort & Convention Hotel.
Mani Shankar Aiyar, former Union Cabinet minister of Petroleum, Government of India was the chief guest from India and Dr P Mohammed Ali, Chairman of Galfar Group, Oman, was the chief guest from Middle East, while Dr Mohammad Aleem, representing Indian Embassy; M S Bukhari, Managing Director of Satco group and Johny Foster, noted Gazal singer from AMU were the Guests of Honour.
More than 400 Alig’s, guest, school principal, presidents of many affiliated organisations, businessmen, media fraternity and professor from Qatar Foundation and Qatar University attended the event.
Sarwar Mirza greeted all the attendees and Aqeel Ahmed, host of the programme introduced the AMUAAQ and its tradition to the audience.
The Sir Syed Day function ended with AMU’s nostalgic Tarana by AMUAAQ team led by Johny Foster and followed by dinner. The Ghazal programme was held after the main function.
