Super Kings wins first all India badminton championship

Doha: Super Kings won the first all India badminton championship which was organised by Qatar KMCC State Sports Wing. 

Super Kings defeated Team Uniq in two consecutive sets. KMCC Vadakara Town team and Team Masters shared the third position.

Rehan Arshad, plus two students of Birla School, native of Kannur Thalipparamba and Arjun Shine eighth standard student of MES School, native of Trivandrum were the players of Super Kings. Mithun Jose and Aju Emmanuel played for runner-up Team Uniq.

The winners were presented with QR2,000 prize money and trophy by Qatar KMCC President SAM Basheer and Indian Sports Center Vice President Sharaf P Hameed. KMCC State Acting Secretary Mustafa Elathur and Keshavdas Nilambur presented QR1,000 prize money and trophy to the runner-up.

Radi Najeeb and Faiz Ahmed won the Emerging Player Award of the tournament. 

The tournament, which took place on November 29 and 30 at the Al Wakra Green Stadium, was attended by 16 prominent expatriate teams from Qatar.

The tournament was moderated by prominent referees from the Badminton Association. It was conducted in accordance with the COVID-19 protocol. 

SAM Basheer inaugurated the closing ceremony which was presided over by Chairman of Qatar KMCC Sports Wing, Siddique Vazhakkad. KMCC Sports Wing Convener Ibrahim Pariyaram; Badminton Association

President Pawan Kumar and DOM Qatar President VC Mashhood spoke on the occasion.

Qatar KMCC Sports Wing Office bearers Abdul Aziz Edachery, Siddique Paramban, Ajmal Thengalakandi, Noufal CK, Mujeeb Koissery, Muhammad Bayar, Shoukath Elathur, Sameer Pattambi, Niyas Moorkanad, Raseel Perinthalmanna, Rashid Perinthalmanna, Juraj Vazhakkad and Noufal Pullukkara led the tournament procedures.
