Doha, Qatar: Khalid Al-Jamaat was crowned champion of the third edition of the Qatar Classic Chess Cup after topping the final standings with six points.
Organised by the Qatar Chess Federation (QCF) at the Qatar Training Center, the tournament featured 22 male and female players competing over seven rounds.
Al-Jamaat claimed the title ahead of Hamad Al-Kuwari, who finished second with 5.5 points, while Turki Al-Kuwari secured third place with five points.
Fahad Al-Mansouri and Ibrahim Al-Janahi finished fourth and fifth, respectively, with 4.5 points each. Ahmed Saif, Mohammed Jerbi, Sultan Al-Rumaihi, Khalid Al-Ziyara and Abdulaziz Al-Mahasnah completed the top 10, all scoring four points.
The tournament has been included in the QCF’s annual calendar as part of its strategy to expand participation, nurture emerging talent and develop a new generation of players capable of strengthening the national teams.
