The Long March 3B rocket carrying the Chang’e-3 lunar probe docked at the launch pad at the Xichang Satellite Launch Center in Liangshan, Sichuan province, yesterday. China launched its first moon rover early this morning, in a milestone for its ambitious space programme and the world’s third such mission after the US and former Soviet Union.
