Commercial Bank Qatar Masters to have a Wednesday tee off

Doha: The Commercial Bank Qatar Masters golf tournament  will have a Wednesday tee off for the second year in a row, the organisers announced here yesterday.
The $2.5m prize money event which is into its 17th edition will be held at Doha Golf Club from Wednesday to Saturday, instead of the Thursday to Sunday schedule.
Organised by the Qatar Golf Association (QGA), the Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC), Doha Golf Club and Commercial Bank of Qatar, the event which sits at the heart of the European Tour’s three-week Middle East swing will take place from January 22 to 25, 2014.
Chris Wood will return to defend his title in 2014, along with a number of other stars to be announced ahead of the tournament. 
Wood lifted the iconic Commercial Bank Qatar Masters Mother of Pearl Trophy in January 2013, becoming the first ever Englishman to win the title.
The tournament benefits from strong local support as one of the highlights of Qatar’s sporting calendar but also attracts many visitors from the UAE, which will host 2014 European Tour events in Abu Dhabi and Dubai in the weeks before and after the Commercial Bank Qatar Masters.
Last year around 25,000 people  patronized the event.
The organisers have lined up a number of performers for the latest edition of the tournament.
The aim of the organisers is to  make the Commercial Bank Qatar Masters 2014 an event for the entire family.
World-renowned Scottish band, Texas, will give a headline performance in the bustling public village on Friday evening as part of the event’s evening entertainment, making for a festival atmosphere. 
Seventies Divas of Soul, Kathy Sledge, the legendary voice of Sister Sledge, and Gwen Dickey, the voice of Rose Royce, will also bring a dose of disco fever to the public village with a live show on Thursday evening.
Meanwhile, fans can buy tickets online and at desginated stores in Qatar.
Day tickets and season tickets for the event will be available for purchase online from December 15 at www.virginmegastore.me and in-store from Virgin Megastore shops in Villagio Mall and Landmark Mall, Doha, as well as Doha Golf Club.
Season tickets are exceptional value, offering access to all four days of golf action as well as the public village and all evening entertainment for just QR325. Evening entertainment is for over 18s only. 
Adult ticket prices are as follows: Wednesday January 22: QR100. Thursday January 23: QR150 (includes evening entertainment – Divas of Soul)
Friday January 24: QR150 (includes evening entertainment – Texas)
Saturday January 25: QR150
Season Ticket: QR325 (includes Wed-Sat event entry and all evening entertainment)
