Doha: Qatar University (Team 1) team defeated University of Calgary, Qatar 3-0 to win the University League at Qatar Foundation (QF) Recreation Centre Pitch 1 on Saturday night.
Qatar University (Team 3) overcame Qatar Aeronautical College 4-2 to win third place in the tournament.
Hilal Al Mohannadi, Head of Development of School and University League at Qatar Football Association (QFA), and Ibrahim Al Obaidy, Director of Community Affairs at Qatar Foundation were present for the award ceremony held at the Recreation Centre to honour all the participating teams.
Sponsored by Qatar 2022 Supreme Committee, the Qatar Universities Football League was organised by Qatar Foundation, in collaboration with QFA.
The action-packed tournament kicked-off on October 24. The competition involved a total of 17 teams from 12 colleges and universities across Qatar.
The following awards were given away at the awards ceremony:
1st Place Team: Qatar University (1), 2nd Place team: University of Calgary - Qatar, 3rd Place team: Qatar University (3), Best Player: Ahmed Saleh Omairan, Best Goalkeeper: Jassem Al Mohammed ( CCQ), Top Scorer: Mohanad Babiker – 7 goals, Fair play team award: Qatar University (1).
