Sindh province wants more hi-tech equipment

KARACHI: Pakistan’s southern province of Sindh has asked for sophisticated equipment, including armoured cars, jammer vehicles and thousands of bulletproof jackets to conduct the third phase of the Karachi operation, it was learnt yesterday.
The third and the main phase of the Karachi targeted Operation has to start in the coming days. The demand was first raised by the Chief Minister Sindh Qaim Ali Shah and now the Sindh Home Department has formally written a letter to the Federal Interior Ministry. The list of equipment requested includes 7 APCs of B-7 plus type, 5 lifters, 20 broadband and 6 low frequency signal jamming vehicles, 10,000 bulletproof jackets and helmets and 4 mobile phone GSM locators.
According to the up-to-date official figures of Sindh Home Department during the ongoing Karachi targeted operation, which started on September 26, a total of 11,720 accused persons have been arrested.
