Qatar residents have 100pc access to power

DOHA: Qatar residents have 100 percent access to electricity and it is the leading Arab nation with access to power, according to the latest Arab figures released in Yemen yesterday.
The figures were released by  Yemen Prime Minister Khaled Bahah while addressing the Supreme Energy Council meeting in Yemeni capital Sana’a. He said Yemen residents had 45.5 percent access to electricity. Qatar Electricity and Water Authority (Kahramaa) is working to increase the production of electricity and water to meet the growing demand due to the increasing population and the economic development the country is witnessing, Al Sharq reports.
Kahramaa plans to increase daily water production at the integrated water and power plant in Ras Laffan Industrial Area from 35m gallons a day to 65m gallons.
Work on the project is expected to start in the middle of this year and the plant will start operations in 2017. 
Additionally, about 95 percent work has been completed on the Ras Abu Fontas A2 Sea Water Desalination Plant. The unit can produce 36m gallons of water a day and is expected to start operations in the middle of the year. The Peninsula
