Things to do this weekend in Qatar (January 3-5, 2019)

Katara is possibly the most happening place to be this weekend in the country with over five events lined up. Of course, there are fashion shows, masterclasses and other events too. Take your pick from the list below:


Kaffeinated 3

About 70 exhibitors from various coffee shops will display a variety of flavours for the coffee lovers in the country at the Kaffeinated Festival. Visitors will also get a chance to learn about ways to make coffee including the traditional and modern methods.

History in Color Exhibition 

Kuwaiti artist Dr Eiman Tohma Al Shammari is presenting the History in Colour Exhibition where she uses digital technologies to add colours and life to images of historical events.

Czech cultural diversity festival 

A folkloric show of the Republic of Czech will be showcased as part of the Cultural Diversity Festival at Katara Amphitheatre.

Mahaseel Festival 

Mahaseel or the harvest festival ongoing at Katara is offering freshly picked locally grown vegetables and fruits at nominal price. There will also be farms selling flowers nursery, honey, dates, and diary and meat products. Apart from shopping for your kitchen and garden, there are also several entertainment activities and workshops at the festivals.

When: 9am to 9pm; On until 5 January after which it will continue every weekend till March 31. 

Shop Qatar Design District 

Doha Exhibition and Convention Center will be the venue for colourful showcase of pop-up shops, cafes, over 20 fashion shows and makeup and beauty masterclasses along with live entertainment. Design District, the main feature of ongoing Shop Qatar festival, will also present latest Spring / Summer collections of renowned designers including five international Indian designers.

Mind 2 Mind

Renowned illusionists - James Harrington and Marina Argvliani will show the audience with their performance the power of mind. They will perform multiple feats of mental dexterity at the Ooredoo stage of Mall of Qatar, promising to wow the audience viewing.

When: Daily two shows - 7pm and 8:30pm; On until January 5.

Kingdom of Geometry exhibition 

Algerian artist Mohammed Talhaoui reveals the undiscovered beauty of the Islamic art decoration in a unique way displaying the ornamental language in his artworks exhibited at building 19 in Katara.

When: 10am to 10pm; On until Jan 12  

Souq Waqif Spring Festival

Souq Waqif Spring Festival brings games and rides along with concerts and shows, including a circus show this year.

The circus show is attracting hordes of residents with acrobats, jugglers, magicians and other artistes showcasing their skills in their performances, in addition to entertaining animal acts. Tickets to the shows which are staged twice in the evening are QR30, QR50 and QR70.

Children as well as adults can play carnival skill games to win memorabilia and gifts at the 15 colourful stalls lined up at Al Ahmed Square, in addition to several rides for children. Both games and rides are priced QR10.
