Doha: Carrefour Qatar held a beach clean-up recently in Al Wakra in collaboration with Al Wakra Municipality. The event is one of many Carrefour-led sustainability initiatives set to follow throughout 2021. The initiative attracted over 30 people.

Laurent Hausknecht, Country Manager of Carrefour Qatar, said, “We continue to organise initiatives that align with our mission to set the standard for being a sustainable, responsible, self-sufficient business. As we grow, we strive to uplift our surrounding communities by allowing them to take part in events focused on environmental conservation actively.”

He added: “We thank Al Wakra Municipality for their partnership and appreciate the participation of our colleagues and all the volunteers who took part.”

Several members of Carrefour’s management and colleagues from the brand’s head office and Carrefour’s Al Wakra store eagerly participated in the event.

Carrefour’s sustainability plan includes several initiatives, such as cleaning beaches, running no plastic days in-store, and encouraging customers to shop with reusable bags.
