Doha: Under the wise leadership of the Emir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Qatar is committed to supporting sustainable water sources, its conservation in consistent with the Arab Water Day under the theme of ‘Rationalising use of water to achieve sustainable development”, the Minister of Energy and Industry H E Dr Mohammed bin Saleh Al Sada said.
Marking Arab Water Day, which falls on March 3 every year, Al Sada said that Qatar attaches great importance to raise awareness of the importance of rationalising the use of water as one of the effective means to maintain the country’s water resources, which form the basis of the state and its progress, especially since the per capita consumption of water is one of the highest in the world.
Qatar is working according to a clear policy as part of its strategy for the management of natural resources, which is considered a road map to achieve sustainability and preservation of generations’ rights , while saying it is a shared responsibility requiring everyone to stop wasting water and follow the proper habits of its usage as a daily practice and a culture of the community so as to ensure sustainable development , he added.
The Minister explained that Qatar General Electricity & Water Corporation (Kahramaa) works to consolidate a culture of water conservation through its national programme for conservation and energy efficiency “Tarsheed”, which it launched under the patronage of the Emir in April 2012 .QNA
