ANBAR, Iraq: Three police personnel were killed Monday in a suicide bombing in Iraq’s western city of Fallujah, according to a local military officer.

A bomber blew up his car at a checkpoint in the city’s western entrance, Army Colonel Walid al-Dulaimi told Anadolu Agency.

He said seven troops – four police personnel and three army soldiers – were injured in the attack.

No group has yet claimed responsibility for the bombing.

Iraqi forces recaptured Fallujah from IS terrorist group in mid-2016.

Iraq has suffered a devastating security vacuum since mid-2014, when IS overran the northern city of Mosul -- now the target of a wide-ranging army offensive -- and vast swathes of territory in the country’s north and west.
