Doha: Qatar Cup finalists Lekhwiya have started their preparations ahead of their AFC Champions League contest with Uzbekistan’s Bunyodkor.
They started training on Sunday evening at Lekhwiya Stadium, ahead of the Wednesday evening clash against the visiting Uzbekistanis.
The Red Knights, who have qualified for the last 16 of the competition, will be looking to maintain their good run in Asia’s top club competition.
They have won two matches, lost two and drew one in the group stage so far and are placed second in Group B, behind Iran’s Zobahan.
On the other hand, Bunyodkor are have failed to impress in the group stage and their hopes of advancing in this year’s Champions League have shattered.
A fully fit side trained at the clubs training ground under the watchful eye of head coach Djamel Belmadi.
Adding more strength to the side will be their Spanish defender Chico Flores who returns to the squad. The former Swansea was a late substitute in the 2-1 Qatar Cup defeat to El Jaish and could be in line for a return to the starting lineup.
The match will kick-off at 20:15 at Al Sadd stadium.
