Gulf English School secondary students have been setting the pace at their multi-sport day and swimming gala at Aspire Dome. Secondary Boys competed in sprint, hurdles, high jump, long jump, shot putt and javelin while Secondary Girls participated in their annual Swimming Gala with races in freestyle, breaststroke and backstroke.
There were also a number of novelty events for the Boys with a speed bounce challenge, sack race and obstacle relay and for the Girls there were float races, ball games and hoop dive competitions, events that ensured that swimmers and non-swimmers could enjoy the day together.
In front of a packed auditorium, GES student Khaled Al Muhannadi received his certificate of scholarship for a full time place as an athlete at Aspire Academy.
Rebecca Cruickshank, PE Faculty Coordinator for GES Primary and Secondary Schools, said: “The opportunity and the experience offered by Aspire Academy is exceptional and reflects how much Qatar supports its young athletes.
