Former Pakistan captain Misbah Ul Haq praised Virat Kohli saying the Indian captain’s passion on the pitch is hard to beat.

When asked what separates Kohli from the rest of the payers, Misbah said: “I think his success is a combination of many things. Number one: Passion. That’s the biggest factor. You can see how passionate Virat is about his game. He works so hard in the nets, he works so hard on his skills training.

“When he is in the ground, he is competitive. On the ground, he wants to win every time. That passion gives him everything. That’s why he is disciplined. That’s why he is more hard working. That’s why he wants to be there till the last ball is bowled. That’s why he wants to score big in every game.”

“I think that’s something that is basically behind Virat Kohli’s success and after scoring so many runs, so many centuries, still the hunger and passion is there. He wants to do better. That’s why he is performing so well and he goes on and on and on. His fighting spirit is helping him. He sets higher standards for himself in every series in which he plays.

“There is another component why he is successful - his base is very good. If the base is good, you can build so many stories even if it is a tall building. He believes in his basics. He trusts his technique and he plays normal cricket shots. Another example of that is Babar Azam. He plays all three formats in the same fashion. Technically very sound. Hunger is there. He always wants to score runs,” he added.
