Manama: The Bahraini Interior Ministry announced the arrest of 15 people described as "field operatives implementing inciting directives in the case of Iranian agents in the country."
This group works to influence citizens, especially young people, to have them implicated in acts that are criminalized by law, the Ministry said in a statement on Wednesday.
The statement added that this group takes advantage of social infiltration through implanting cells that implement the agendas of unlawful entities.
It pointed out that this group had links to those who had previously been busted in the Iran-linked agents case in Bahrain.
Legal procedures are underway against the arrestees, while search and investigation operations are continuing in order to take the necessary measures against anyone proven to be involved in the operations of this cell and to have committed unlawful acts, the statement continued.
The Ministry emphasized that it has been surveilling the movements of those operatives, and that the procedures taken evidently aim to protect the security and safety of the entire community.
The statement confirmed that the Ministry will steadfastly move ahead to counter those who compromise civil peace and stoke strife and division among members of Bahraini society
