SEJONG: South Korea has agreed to support construction of a transportation system in Afghanistan, the Seoul government said Wednesday.

A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for co-operation will be signed Thursday, under which South Korea will also provide its own experience in operating and maintaining a nationwide transportation system to Afghanistan, according to the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport.

The MOU comes at a request from Kabul, which has also expressed hope that South Korean firms will take part in the country's project to build the transportation system, the ministry said in a press release.

"The ministry will work to make sure that the South Korean government continues to support reconstruction of Afghanistan by providing support for Afghanistan's transportation sector," it said. (QNA)
