‘Money and Letters’ expo at Katara

Doha: The Katara is displaying a collection of currency notes from various countries with serial No. 1, collected by Qatari numismatist Hassan Al Naimi. 

The ‘Money and Letters’ expo includes a 1919 Russian banknote of around 5x6 inches and a £10 note issued by the Northern Bank Limited, established in 1824 in Belfast, with the serial number E 1111111, among others. 

The exhibits are part of Al Naimi’s collection that includes nearly 100,000 banknotes with unique permutations and combinations of numbers 1 to 9. 

He is vying for a place in the Guinness World Records. The exhibition also features works of Maher Al Sameraei reflecting the diversity of ceramic industry of the Islamic civilisation. The expo ends on August 11. The Peninsula
