Doha, Qatar: The Postal Consignment Department of Air Cargo and Private Customs thwarted an attempt to smuggle banned substances into the country.
In an announcement, the authorities stated that methamphetamine was found inside "saturated (dried) clothes".
A total weight of 8.54 kilograms was seized during the inspection.
On Monday, July 31, Customs officials at Hamad International Airport also foiled a smuggling attempt, in which authorities found cocaine hidden inside a musical instrument.
The Customs Department has been warning against bringing illegal goods into the country. They are equipped with all means of support including the latest devices and continuous training to read the body language of passengers and to be aware of the latest methods followed by smugglers.
