CHAMAN: A suicide bomber yesterday killed at least three people and wounded 12 others at a southwestern border crossing point between Afghanistan and Pakistan, officials said.

The bombing took place in the southwestern Pakistani town of Chaman, on the frontier with Afghanistan, a senior security official said. "It was a suicide bombing. We have found the severed head on the blast site," local border force commander Colonel Haider Ali said.

"One FC (Frontier Corps) personnel and two civilians were martyred and 12 others were wounded," he said, adding that the bomber had arrived at the border from Afghanistan.

Local police officials confirmed the attack and casualties. Chaman is one of two major border crossings between Pakistan and Afghanistan, along with Torkham in the northwest, and is the main land route for Nato supplies crossing from Pakistan into Afghanistan.
