Doha: Maersk Oil Qatar (MOQ) appointed Sheikh Jassim bin Saud Al Thani (pictured)as its new Head of Qatarisation.
Lewis Affleck, Managing Director of MOQ, said: “At Maersk Oil Qatar we are committed to recruiting and developing talented Qatari nationals. Working closely with his colleagues in MOQ’s Human Resources (HR) department, and with leaders from throughout the MOQ business, Sheikh Jassim will lead MOQ’s comprehensive Qatarisation programme. This is an extremely important role, and we welcome Sheikh Jassim to his new position.”
Sheikh Jassim joined MOQ in 2011, and has worked as a senior project manager in Information Technology, Finance and Business Support (FBS). He led delivery of a fibre optic cable sharing project with Qatargas and has supported the review and development of MOQ’s 2013 ‘Strategic Qatarisation Plan’.
Sheikh Jassim said: “At Maersk Oil Qatar we already employ some 180 Qataris. In accordance with the Strategic Qatarisation Strategy, and in accordance with the directives set out for the energy and industry sectors led by H E Dr Mohammed bin Saleh Al Sada, Minister of Energy and Industry and Chairman and Managing Director of Qatar Petroleum, we intend to increase this number further, while also focusing on the development of Qatari talent into leadership positions. This is an exciting opportunity and one that I am ready to embrace.”
