DOHA: An employee of a local business is accused of fleeing the country taking QR100,000 from his company. The man tricked his boss into signing his exit permit and used the company’s stamp.
The owner of the company trusted his employee of many years, to transport the money to another office located in the Industrial Area.
The amount allegedly stolen was the salary of other members of the staff who waited for him to arrive until the end of the working day.
In the meantime, they called him several times, until his mobile phone was disconnected. At first, his co-workers did not worry, given that he had performed that same task many times before. Ultimately, the owner of the company called the police, that later found out the worker had taken a flight out from the Doha airport.
The worker booked his ticket weeks in advance, knowing that at the end of the month he would have to transport the money. According to the boss, the worker, whom he trusted, was an office boy and also his personal driver.
Although the employer thinks he won’t get his money back, he referred the issue to the court and has the suspicion that the alleged thief mixed his leave application with those of other workers, so that the boss would sign them all at once.
