DOHA: ExxonMobil Professional Women’s Network (EMRA’A) hosted an event ‘Empowerment of Women’, attended by over 50 employees, said a statement yesterday.
It featured a presentation and lecture by guest speaker, Dr Amal Al Malki, Associate Teaching Professor of English, Carnegie Mellon University, and Executive Director, Translation and Interpreting Institute, Hamad bin Khalifa University, Qatar Foundation.
She shared her personal and professional experiences and accomplishments and her approach to achieving a healthy work life balance.
She also encouraged the participating women to assess their approaches, share experiences and learn potential ways to better balance aspects of their lives to increase personal and professional productivity.
“Working women everywhere face their own set of challenges on a daily basis, particularly with striking a healthy work life balance, and it is wonderful to hear that Dr Al Malki was able to overcome these challenges,” said Fatima Al Emadi, a participant.
“She is the epitome of a progressive Arab woman, and an example for all Qatari and non-Qatari women,” she said.
“Today’s event, like all events we organise through the network, focus on supporting working women in Qatar,” said Hend Darwish, Co-Chair, EMRA’A Networking Committee.
“Our aim is to inspire women, and celebrate their professional achievements. We can learn a lot from one another, women can teach you about real strength in the workplace, how to overcome challenges, and excel. “We look forward to organising such events, which support the objectives of Qatar National Vision 2030 in terms of women empowerment.”
