DOHA: Ministers and representatives of 30 countries including major consumers and producers in Asia will attend the 6th Asian Ministerial Energy Roundtable, said Minister of Energy and Industry H E Dr Mohammed bin Saleh Al Sada (pictured). Under the patronage of Emir
H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the Ministry in collaboration with International Energy Forum, is organising the conference. The event will take place from November 8 to 10.
Prime Minister and Interior Minister H E Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani will open the conference in the presence of number of ministers from Asian countries and representatives of energy organisations.
In a press statement, Dr Al Sada said the meeting is taking place at a time when the world economy and energy market is fluctuating. This roundtable meeting aims to bring together the views of producers and consumers in Asia. He added that the decline of oil and natural gas prices has a direct negative impact on the producers in the short term and has negative impact on consumers in mid and long term. It has been noted recently that many national and international oil companies have reduced their investments and abandoned projects which were aimed to increase the production. Through dialogue we will try to create balance in the energy market and to assure global energy needs, he said.
