VCU-Q hosts business idea contest

Doha: Virginia Commonwealth University-Qatar (VCU-Q) hosted its first business idea competition last week as part of the worldwide programme, Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW).   
The aim of GEW is to grow enterprise ambitions amongst young people. GEW celebrates the innovators and job creators who start their own business ideas and drive economic growth and expand human welfare. This initiative is worldwide and is a growing scheme in Qatar.
To celebrate GEW, VCU-Q hosted a student competition sponsored by q.media in which entrepreneurship students were encourage to build a business plan for a profitable business idea. The finalists of the competition had to present their business plans to a panel of judges, which included the sponsor, q.media.
“Our aim is to build a culture around entrepreneurship,” said the Director of Entrepreneurship at VCU-Q, Roger Griffiths. The winning team, Pixel Glitch, made up of Tariq Spence and Dawood Al Anwari were thrilled to win the competition and stated that the prize money would be ploughed into expanding the business.
