Qatar and South Korea to enhance cooperation

The Higher Joint Committee for Strategic Cooperation between Qatar and South Korea held its fourth meeting in the Korean capital Seoul which was chaired by Minister of Energy and Industry H E Dr Mohammed bin Saleh Al Sada, and South Korean Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy Joo Hyung Hwan.
The meeting aimed to discuss cooperation between the two countries in various fields, within the framework of the implementation of what was agreed upon between the two countries during summit meetings between Emir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, and President Park Geun-hy of Korea, in November 2014 and March 2015, QNA reported citing statement issued by the Ministry of Energy and Industry.
 The meeting was attended by Qatar's Ambassador to Korea Mohammed Abdullah Al Dehaimi and a number of representatives of ministries and Qatari institutions including Ministry of Education, Ministry of Interior, and Ministry of Health, Qatar Investment Authority, the Civil Aviation Authority, Qatar Foundation, the Public Works Authority, Qatar General Electricity & Water Corporation (Kahramaa), Qatar Airways, RasGas, and Qatar Petroleum.
During yesterday’s meeting the Committee discussed ways of enhancing joint cooperation and development taking place in the agreements that had been reached during the previous three meetings.  The Committee also discussed various areas of cooperation between Qatar and South Korea, which include: economic, commercial and investment cooperation, agriculture, science and technology, defense and national security, information technology and communication technology, education, health and medical services. The Committee also reviewed the draft resolutions raised by the Preparatory Committee meeting which was held last Wednesday where it was agreed during the preparatory meeting to review the results and follow-up every six months.
The preparatory meeting agreed on the Korean side support for the plan of Qatar to set up health insurance system by taking advantage of the Korean experience in this fields. The meeting praised the successful cooperation for treatment of Qatari patients in Korean hospitals as well as the launching of the joint medical forum to be held in Doha on December 30.
The Higher Committee decided to hold its fifth session in the second half of 2017. The two sides signed the minutes of the fourth session of the Higher Joint Committee for strategic cooperation between Qatar and South  Korea.
