Doha, Qatar: As part of the global 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence campaign, Protection and Social Rehabilitation Center, - Aman, one of the centers operating under the Qatar Foundation for Social Work, organised an awareness workshop titled “Prevention is Protection” in cooperation with the Primary Health Care Corporation (PHCC).

The workshop was held at Al Sadd Health Center.

The initiative forms part of Aman’s annual activities marking the international campaign, which begins on November 25, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, and continues until December 10, Human Rights Day.

The workshop targeted nurses working in school clinics across both public and private schools. Its objective was to familiarize participants with child protection mechanisms, how to access Aman Center’s services, and the range of support the center offers to women, children, and individuals affected by family violence or breakdown.

Acting Executive Director of Aman Center, Fadhel Al-Kaabi, stressed the center’s commitment to activating its cooperation agreement with PHCC through initiatives such as this workshop.

He highlighted the importance of reaching diverse community groups, noting that Aman regularly organizes tailored workshops for parents in coordination with schools, for medical staff at health centers, and for youth through Quran memorization centers, social centers affiliated with the Ministry of Culture, and sports clubs under the Ministry of Sports and Youth.

“Our goal is to expand awareness and strengthen societal understanding of issues related to social protection. Protection and prevention are a shared community responsibility,” Al-Kaabi said.

He also emphasized the importance of training school nurses, describing schools as a “second home” for students, where nurses play a crucial role in recognizing and responding to potential child protection concerns.

Director of Community Awareness at Aman Center, Bakhita Al-Ghayyathin, noted that the “Prevention is Protection” workshop is an annual initiative, with each year focusing on a different audience to ensure comprehensive outreach on social protection issues.

Director of Communications and Media at Aman Center, Hanan Al-Ali, highlighted the center’s dedication to strengthening local and international partnerships. These collaborations, she said, help broaden the impact of Aman’s services and enhance support for women, children, and families affected by violence.

She also reaffirmed the center’s commitment to marking the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women and participating in the 16-day global campaign by spotlighting issues related to women’s protection.
