DOHA: The committee supervising preparations for the fifth Central Municipal Council (CMC) elections has set up a hotline to answer queries from citizens regarding voters registration and election procedures.
The hotline — 2342555 — will be available from 4pm to 7pm, the Ministry of Interior said in a statement yesterday.
Voters registration for the elections begins on January 11 and continues until January 22.
The ministry said registration forms are available at special booths set up in 29 constituencies across the country from 4pm to 7pm.
There are separate booths for women.
Citizens can submit filled forms at the booths.
They are also required to produce their Qatari ID and documents showing the area of residence as well as street, house and electricity numbers.
To benefit from modern technology and ease registration, the committee has also allowed citizens to register via Metrash2 service of the ministry.
The voters list will be announced after completion of registration.
Applications for deletion and addition of names in the list will be received from January 28 to February 5, said the statement.
A voter must be an original Qatari or one who acquired Qatari nationality 15 years ago, and must not be under 18 calendar years, must not have been convicted in a case involving a breach of honour or trust unless rehabilitated.
A voter must be a resident of the electoral district where he can use exercise franchise and must not be a personnel of the armed forces or police.
Those who registered earlier must reregister again in view of the restructuring of the constituencies, said the committee.
