DOHA: Foreign workers remitted a huge QR30.24bn ($8.3bn) overseas in the first nine months of 2014, official figures show.
In 2013, worker remittances totalled a massive QR40.55bn ($11.14bn), while in 2012 and 2011, the remittance volumes were a little over QR37bn each year.
According to figures released by the Ministry of Development Planning and Statistics, worker remittances have more than doubled in the past six years, thanks to the growing expatriate population.
