Doha: The Ministry of Economy and Commerce yesterday closed down a popular shop dealing in eyeglasses in new Al Mirqab for a month as it was found selling counterfeit products of international brands.
The closure follows a surprise raid on the outlet during which inspectors found that all displayed glasses were counterfeit. The ministry inspection campaigns aim to protect consumers and that it will not give any chance to anyone to violate the consumer protection law and will increase raids to stop such practices. The ministry urged consumers to report any violations to the Consumer Protection and Anti-Commercial Fraud Department which receives complains and suggestions on its hotline 8005000 and email info@mec.gov.qa The Peninsula
