DOHA: Nine days remain for the closure of submissions for Vodafone’s 2nd Literary Competition following which a panel of judges — Qatari literary and luminary experts — will convene to select the winners of the Q145,000 prize.
The competition was launched on December 14 in line with the theme of Qatar National Day celebrations 2014 ‘I treated you with honesty, guidance and integrity’, taken from a poem written by Qatar’s founder Sheikh Jassim bin Mohammed Al Thani.
Citizens and residents can submit entries until February 13 for two categories.
For the first, entries have to be in the form of a short story between 500 and 1,000 words. First prize in this category is QR20,000, second QR15,000 and third QR10,000.
For the second category, submissions have to be a collection of stories on any subject matter with a minimum of 10 stories or 100 pages. First prize in this category is QR50,000, second QR30,000 and third is QR20,000.
