Social activist from Manipur, Irom Sharmila, who has been fasting for 12 years to demand the repeal of the controversial Armed Forces Special Powers Act, arrives at the Indira Gandhi International Airport in New Delhi, yesterday. Sharmila, who launched her fast unto death in 2000 in Manipur, is due to appear in a Delhi court for attempt to commit suicide — for fasting at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi earlier.
