Doha: The Emir H H Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani has sent a cable of greetings to the President of Poland on the occasion of his country’s National Day. The Heir Apparent H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani and the Prime Minister and Foreign Minister H E Sheikh Hamad bin Jassem bin Jabor Al Thani have sent similar cables to the President of Poland on the same occasion.
DOHA: Brazilian born artist Harding Meyer will give a Portrait Painting Workshop at Katara Art Studios from May 7 to May 13. The course, to take place at building 19, is free of charge and open to a maximum of 12 artists.
On the occasion of Katara Galleries Exhibition ‘Eye to Eye’, with portraits by Harding Meyer, the artist will be in residence at the Katara Art Studios directing a workshop where he will show how he creates his portrait paintings. From Sunday to Thursday the workshop will be from 5 to 8pm and on Friday and Saturday, from 3 to 8pm.
Harding will show the medial character and origin of his work, then the process of painting, with which he slows and reanimates the pictures. The artist will go into details on his painting technique and create portraits with the participants.
At the end of the workshop, Katara Art Studios will organise an impromptu exhibition of all the portraits produced for which all friends and family members of the participating artists are invited to attend.
Participants should bring hardcopy and soft copy photograph of the subject chosen for the portrait painting, as well as their personal mixing pallet, which is also available at the studios.
Partakers should bring their own preferred brand of acrylic colours and two canvas for the portrait they intent to develop.
Doha: Due to recent increases in the interconnect costs for many countries, Vodafone Qatar will change the calling rate to countries that are currently at 65Dhs to 66Dhs starting May 25, the company said in a press release issued yesterday.
This change applies to both Vodafone Prepaid and Postpaid consumer customers. Vodafone has also encouraged customers to visit www.vodafone.qa to get the full list of countries that will be included in the new calling rates.
