Christian of Australia tops at Pearl-Qatar Triathlon

Doha: Ryan Christian of Australia topped in the Olympic Distance Open Men’s category at the Pearl-Qatar Triathlon in Doha recently.
The event was hosted through an initiative by The Pearl-Qatar along with the support from a group of race organizing team lead by Pedro Usero and race technical committee Shane Guinan, Zaahir Howell, Nerissa Usero, Jaynald Canaria, Nayef Al-Kaabi and other triathlon enthusiasts.
Christian topped followed by Luke Longney of New Zealand and William Weymouth of Ireland came third.
Races were also held in the following other categories, Olympic Distance Master Men, Olympic Distance Open Women, Olympic Distance Master Women, Sprint Distance Open Men, Sprint Distance Master Men, Sprint Distance Open Women and Sprint Distance Master Women.
Around 200 triathletes from 30 nationalities took part in the race.
The race comprised of the Olympic distance with 1.5Km swim, 40Km bike and 10Km run and of Sprint distance with 750K swim, 20Km bike and 5Km run. Starting with a beach swim start at the breath-taking Lido Venezia beach followed by cycling and running along the picturesque streets of the The Pearl.

The following were the winners in different categories: Olympic Distance Master Men category: 1st Place: Sam Westhead (UK), 2nd Place: Malcolm Geluk (New Zealand), 3rd Place: Simon Aggus (UK)
Olympic Distance Open Women Category: 1st Place: Rebecca Grace (New Zealand), 2nd Place: Aoife Boyce (Ireland), 3rd Place: Cecilia Runneson (Sweden)
Olympic Distance Master Women Category: 1st Place: Lindis Johansen (Norway), 2nd Place: Wajeeha Al Husseini (Jordan)
 Sprint Distance Open Men category: 1st Place: Ronald Molit (Philippines), 2nd Place: Tom Whateley (UK), 3rd Place: Paul Dean (UK),
Sprint Distance Master Men category: 1st Place James Bowen (South Africa) 2nd Place Paul Beedle (UK) 3rd Place Stuart Hart (UK)
