QNA to hold three-day workshop on information technology

Doha: Qatar News Agency(QNA) is  organising today a specialised workshop on modern information technology for a number of technical delegations from GCC news agencies as part of a series of courses and workshops held by QNA for qualifying and training of personnel working in this field. 
The three-day workshop will discuss topics including technology challenges facing news agencies, the latest technologies in dealing with news and mechanisms of reaching the subscribers in particular and the public in general through smart devices applications, social media and visualized presentations. 
Director of the Technical Affairs Department at  Qatar News Agency Eng Khalid Al Mutawa said the courses and workshops come in implementation of Emiri Decision No. 51 of 2009, which entrusted QNA with organising training courses and workshops appropriate for developing the capacities of participants and upgrading their professionalism through ongoing training and development programmes. 
Al Mutawa added that this workshop comes after the great success QNA achieved in organising specialised workshops and the good reputation it gained and reflected in the number of applications submitted for participation in QNA courses, as well as the continued keenness to provide knowledge for trainees and to remove obstacles during the course. 
He explained that the workshop, to be addressed by Engineer Hani Jaber, will focus on the technological challenges facing news agencies, in addition to the provision of new by exploiting new services’ technology and new mechanisms for the delivery of news content and how to market these services successfully. 
Al Mutawa called on the participants to abide by its time schedule and take advantage of its topics and proposals, wishing them every success.
